Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love

How do we truly love those who are different from us?

In today's episode, Stephanie explore the challenge of loving beyond political differences and personal affiliations. Drawing from First John 4:21, she reflects on God's command to love our brothers and sisters, irrespective of their political beliefs or the frustrations of our current national climate. As she shares her own experiences of navigating relationships strained by differing views and offers insights into overcoming these barriers with a heart full of God's love. And encourage us to focus on our similarities rather than our differences, fostering forgiveness and unity.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1204. Today's Devo is called Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for your. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:54.786
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Thursday, everybody. Valentine's Day is tomorrow, so I hope you already got your flowers and your chocolates and your balloons or your date night reserved, whatever it may be. Go and do it. Get it done. Or maybe you're taking your spouse out to dinner and your girlfriend out tonight because avoid those crowds. Take them out one night early. That's what I'm doing. And my name is Stephanie. I don't know if I introduced myself already. Anyway,

00:00:54.898 --> 00:00:58.509
21.

00:00:59.030 --> 00:01:50.548
And he has given us this command. Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. This one's going to be a little challenging for you today, so please open up your heart to me and be kind to me and listen to me with ears of grace. But I'm just going to challenge us all. You know, we are in a very tense season as a nation. Donald Trump is our president, and that fact can either make you extremely angry or very happy. And let me just assure you, it is completely normal to have your emotions affected by politics. It is part of life as long as you don't go overboard. It's perfectly normal to feel either defeated or to be really, really happy and relieved by the turnings of our politicians.

00:01:50.703 --> 00:01:54.239
It is part of our country and you live here, so it is normal.

00:01:54.659 --> 00:02:08.080
However, something that I have to do personally all the time is recognize that politics does not affect my everyday life and my relationships.

00:02:08.740 --> 00:03:12.560
I don't know about you, but I do have people in my life that are weird with me because of my political affiliations. And it's disappointing because the truth is, the stuff that happens in our daily life, in our relationships has nothing to do with politics. They're dealing with breakups, they're dealing with work changes, they're dealing with a relationship with Jesus. But because of political affiliations, I don't have the room to speak life into them. And sometimes I admit I haven't even given people the room to speak life into me because of their political affiliations. And the Bible says that there is a command that anyone who loves God, and I love God must also love their brother and sister. And the Bible doesn't say if they voted for the same president as you, if they have the same political affiliations as you. The Bible doesn't say that.

00:03:12.680 --> 00:04:08.647
It says if you love God, then you must love your brother and your sister. And again, I understand that it is hard to get those thoughts out of your mind when you're talking to somebody who voted differently from you or believes in ideologies much different from you. But the Bible and what it tells us is a promise to us. And if we follow its commands, it promises to bless us. So here's my challenge to you. Focus on the good and love those around you, no matter how different they are from you. No matter how different this person is from me, I will love them like God loves me. Be positive with them. You know, talk about TV shows and good movies and good restaurants and good music. Make it about your similarities and not your differences. Forgive them and move on.

00:04:08.783 --> 00:04:48.398
And love them because you're going to love them with the type of love that Jesus uses to love. And everyone all over the world needs that kind of love. They need forgiveness. They need unity. We need peace. We need relationships that are kind and positive and joyful and full of laughter and full of God's love. Not just any love, but God's love. So that's my challenge to you today. Just love others around you, no matter how different they are from you. Even in this tense season in our nation, what we need is God's love to break those barriers. Let's pray.

00:04:48.574 --> 00:05:07.149
God, we pray right now that if there are any relationships in our life that are struggling because of differences, we just speak the name of Jesus over them. And we speak love over them. We speak joy over them. We speak unity over them. God, give us the ways to love them.

00:05:07.269 --> 00:05:25.153
Show us how to love them. Sometimes we need a deep spiritual insight on how to love these people that are different from us. So give us that spiritual insight. Maybe we need to pray for them differently. Maybe we need to speak to them differently. Maybe they need an encouragement from us.

00:05:25.242 --> 00:05:32.161
Whatever it may be, I pray that you give us spiritual insight on how to love those that are different from us.

00:05:32.266 --> 00:05:35.954
And we thank you Jesus for modeling this love for us every day.

00:05:36.041 --> 00:05:51.002
And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it, your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day if you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend.
