Now What?

Have you ever found yourself asking, “Now what?” after a life-changing moment? In today’s episode, host Gaby Alessi invites us to explore what happens after Easter—when the celebrations are over and we’re left wondering what’s next. Together, we’ll dive into the story of the disciples after Jesus’ resurrection, discovering how the arrival of the Holy Spirit transformed their uncertainty into boldness and purpose. As a community, we’ll reflect on the power available to us through the Holy Spirit, and consider where we might need courage and guidance in our own lives.
Join us in prayer and devotion as we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit, asking for boldness and clarity as we step into the answers to our own “now what?” moments.

00:00:29.434 --> 00:01:37.212
Well, happy Monday, everybody, and I hope everybody had a great Easter Sunday. I hope you enjoyed your Good Friday and celebrated and honored what Jesus did for us on the cross and then celebrated with your family the Resurrection Sunday. That was just yesterday. I know. Our church had an incredible service. It was amazing to see everybody come together for Easter Sunday, Resurrection Day. And I'm just believing that everything that happened on Easter is going to be an outpouring. There's going to be an outpouring from Easter into all of our lives. Gabby Alessi, I'm your host for this week, and I'm actually back in the podcast booth. Every time that I've been filming, I've been at home and it's been really nice, but I'm back at the booth here at our church and I'm ready for this week of devos. If you guys don't know, we have a meetup coming up. It's like a meet and greetings for some coffee here in Miami on May 1st. If you go to our Instagram, you can find out more info on that. But we'd love to meet you, we'd love to shake your hand, see your face, talk to you a little bit, because you don't get to see us, we don't get to see you. So this is the perfect chance to do that.
00:01:37.316 --> 00:02:07.093
And we're believing this is the first of many meetups that we do. All right, I want to jump into our devo today. And the idea of today's and this week's devo is really looking at life after resurrection. You know, I think once Jesus resurrected and spent some time here on earth and then finally ascended, I feel like the disciples had a moment where they all looked at each other and thought, now what? You just spent all this time with Jesus.
00:02:07.141 --> 00:02:24.921
You just saw the. The miracles he did. You just saw the ultimate miracle of a death and resurrection. And then now he goes back to heaven and they're starting to realize, wow, he prepared us for these things. You know, he told us these things would happen.
00:02:25.105 --> 00:03:42.319
They just Happened now what? And this is where we pick up in Acts 2, verses 1 through 4. And I'm reading out of the NIV and it says this. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly, a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. You see, this is the moment of the. This is the answer to the question of now what? You see, Jesus prepared them for this. He told them, I'm leaving, but I'm going to send you a helper. I'm going to send you the Holy Spirit. But when you read the Gospels, you see that the. The disciples aren't track. They're not understanding what Jesus is saying. I think that was on purpose because they needed to see all of the events take place. But then they get to this moment where they're in the upper room and the helper finally arrives. And it says here that the Spirit came in like a violent wind. You see, this is what the Holy Spirit does. He transforms ordinary people into powerful witnesses for Jesus.
00:03:42.650 --> 00:04:11.800
This. The Holy Spirit wasn't quiet. It wasn't hidden. It was loud. It was public and miraculous. It was a violent wind. You see, the disciples, at this point, they were uncertain. They might have been afraid. But when the Holy Spirit filled them, he brought a boldness to them. There was a certain power that came upon them through the Holy Spirit, where they went from saying, now what?
00:04:12.099 --> 00:04:26.507
To believing. All right, now we know our mission. Now we know what we have to do. Why? Because the Holy Spirit gave them a power and an understanding. I'm praying right now that all of us, maybe we're uncertain about our lives. Maybe we're. We're not sure about things.
00:04:26.564 --> 00:04:30.204
Maybe we feel a little afraid about things and we're thinking for our own lives.
00:04:30.372 --> 00:04:41.120
Now what. What's next? God, what's next for me? What do I have to do? I am believing that the Holy Spirit is going to bring a boldness to you. I want to ask you this question.
00:04:41.819 --> 00:04:45.519
Where do you need the boldness of the Holy Spirit in your life right now?
00:04:46.060 --> 00:04:52.680
Where do you need it? Is it in your family? Is it in your job? Maybe it's your relationships?
00:04:53.500 --> 00:06:33.509
Maybe there's some decisions that you and I have to make this week. And we need the boldness of the Holy Spirit to help us make those decisions, whatever it is, then I just pray right now that the Holy Spirit would provide that for you. And by the end of this week, we will act and walk in that boldness. So come on, let's pray. Holy Spirit, we just welcome you right now. We thank you that how you filled the the Pentecost room, Lord, how you filled the upper room. But God, I'm believing you're going to fill us right now. What once was connected, confined into a room is now freely given to all of us. And we receive your Holy Spirit. I pray for a boldness to come upon every single person that is listening to this episode. And Father, that you would fill them with your spirit. If they're unsure, if they're unafraid, God, if they're afraid, if they don't understand what's next or don't know how to do something, I pray right now that the Holy Spirit would enable them with power and a boldness to succeed, Father, and to overcome the things in their life. And we thank you Father, that you freely give us this helper in a season of now what God? You've sent a helper to help us answer that question and we thank you for it. In Jesus name, amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow. We pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
