That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:26.352 --> 00:02:09.520
This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everybody. My name is Rachelle Alessi, and thank you so much for being with us this week. I really, truly miss being with you and I'm glad that I am back and I wanted to leave you this Friday with a very simple verse, but believing that it's a verse that you can carry with yourself throughout the whole year and you'll see how it makes a difference in your life. And that is Psalm 48, and it says, in peace I will both lie down and sleep for you alone. O Lord, make me dwell in safety. And sometimes we look over some of these, but this is actually a psalm that David wrote. And if we know anything about David is that he was King David. And David's life was not easy, even though he was a king and he might have had had a lot of things. The truth is that when we read through David's journey, he went through some really hard things. People were coming after him. There was moments where he was sleeping in caves, moments where people had taken his family away from him and he had to fight to get his family back. He had to fight to get his kingdom. He had to fight to get the things that the Lord had promised him. David didn't live a just peaceful life naturally, yet he sat down and he wrote this verse because he knew that in the midst of all those hard things that he had to do, he could sleep in peace because of the Lord. And I know that these days we're not thinking that we're having to fight a battle or people might not take. We might not have to be sleeping in caves because somebody's coming after us.

00:02:10.060 --> 00:02:13.639
But there's a lot of things that are really stealing our peace.

00:02:14.349 --> 00:03:16.560
There's things that we're allowing on a daily that when you know that you have to go to sleep, you wake up and you're still tired. It's like I slept seven hours and I. I'm still tired. And it's because you never allowed your mind and your spirit to properly shut down because of everything that's stressing you. The anxiety that's following you. It's almost impossible to relax. You get. You do your work, you get home, and you still are not relaxed because you're like, there's still things I have to do. And I just encourage you to just pause for a moment and know that that is not from the Lord. The Lord does not want you to live a life full of anxiety, a life full of stress, a life where you don't even want to go to sleep because you know that you're going to wake up in the middle of night. Stress. If there's things keeping you up at night, I pray right now, wherever you are, just give them to the Lord and surrender them to the Lord. Because the Lord wants you to have peaceful rest. Rest is important, guys. Rest is not for later.

00:03:16.939 --> 00:04:00.665
I know sometimes we're like, this is the time we have to be working, working, working, so one day we can have everything we want. But for us to be the person that we want to be, we need godly rest. Not worldly rest, not the rest that you're like, I'm going to go disconnect and not do anything for eight hours. You can still have rest in the days where you have to work, in the days where you have to be with your family. And you have to realize that your rest comes from the Lord. The Lord is your peaceful place. It says that the Lord makes us dwell in safety, which means when do we feel safe? When we are with the Lord. And so I encourage you today it's Friday, and so the weekend is coming.

00:04:00.828 --> 00:05:39.577
I pray that you make rest a priority. And not in the sense where you don't do anything, but that you find the things that you love to do, the things that recharge you. Maybe it is going out to your garden and as you're cutting your garden or pruning your garden, you're speaking to the Lord. You're worshiping the Lord. Maybe it's while you're washing the dishes, put on your airpods and start to worship. And put worship music and rest in the Lord. And I pray that tonight before you go to sleep, if there is anything that's really stealing your peace, you write it down. Get out a paper and pen, not your phone, and not just in your mind, but write it down and tell the Lord. Lord, I give you this tonight. I give you this anxiety, I give you this stress. I give it all to you. Because let's remember what we said the other day. He's working all things out for good. So you and I cannot. We cannot just be addicted to our anxiety and stress. We have to let it go because God wants us to live a life where we experience peaceful sleep. So I just encourage you write those things down and give them to the Lord and just enjoy your night's rest tonight and this weekend. So let's pray. Dear Father God, thank you because you rested on the seventh day and you have shown us the true me meaning of rest. You've also given us the tools to have the right kind of rest. And I pray that we will not be the people that live in anxiety, that live in stress, and not only live in it, but give into it.

00:05:39.634 --> 00:06:28.355
Lord, we know that some of these things are mindsets that we cannot hold on to this year. We leave stress and anxiety in the past. This is not something, something that we're going to carry this year because we are going to experience the fullness of God. We are going to experience the peace of God. And I pray tonight, Lord, that your spirit will surround the minds and the hearts of our listeners. I pray, Lord, that as they open that book and get that pen and start to write, that your spirit will start answering and being with them and then that they fill you tonight and that they know that in you, Father, there is safety and that they are safe today and that they will be safe all the days of their life. In Jesus name we pray.
