You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1004. Today's Devo is called Raising Arrows. Hey there. We're the Alesis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.309 --> 00:00:43.698
That's why we partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Thursday. My name is Lauren Alesi, and I'm joined once again by my sister, Stephanie Muenya. Hello. Good morning. Thanks, Lauren. You're doing a great job. Thank you. Thank you. I love listening to you. You're doing a great job.
00:00:43.826 --> 00:01:12.063
Thank you so much. And just a reminder for everybody, I forgot to say this in the other episodes, so I really want to emphasize this. We have a new text line available, so if you'd like to leave a comment, if you'd like to leave a message, a question, anything, you can tap the link in the description on any app. If you're listening on Spotify, any app you're listening on, just tap the link in the description, and it'll lead you to our new text line. And there you can leave a message, a comment, a question, anything that's on your mind.
00:01:12.603 --> 00:01:45.463
But just wanted to mention that because I know that that's important. So now that that is out of the way, Stephanie, what devotional do you have for us this morning? I have a really good one, and it's called raising arrows because it is based off the Bible verse, psalm 127, three through five, which says, children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring, a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. And blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
00:01:45.924 --> 00:02:11.818
So, again, we have Mother's Day coming up in the next couple days. So this is tailored more towards the mothers, single mamas, um, every type of mother there is. But also, if you are not a mom, then please, there. There are lessons in here that could apply to you, because I'm sure you have friends or sisters or brothers who have children. Yeah. And it takes a village to raise up children.
00:02:11.866 --> 00:02:30.108
Totally. This is just a little. A little side note before I start the devotional. So if you are not a mom or a father, but you, you have children in your life that are related to you or your friends have kids, pour into them. Yeah. Spend time with them, because it really does take a village. It blesses the parents.
00:02:30.235 --> 00:02:33.539
But this is both for the mothers and for those that don't have kids yet.
00:02:33.692 --> 00:02:51.915
So again, like arrows in the hand of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Yesterday I spoke on how you have to be proud of your, your servanthood. And why do you have to be proud? Because you are raising arrows. You are raising arrows.
00:02:52.099 --> 00:02:54.984
These aren't just new humans.
00:02:56.403 --> 00:03:18.454
These are arrows in the hands of a warrior. Yeah. Like, how strong is that, that your children have a purpose on their life. They have a calling on their life. They have a purpose on this earth. They have a purpose in the kingdom of God. And you have been assigned as their mother.
00:03:18.993 --> 00:03:41.123
You've been assigned as their father. You've been assigned as their aunt, as their uncle. You have been assigned to pour into their life and to sharpen them as arrows. So you know what that means. You need to bring them to church. You need to show them how to serve. You need to show them integrity. You need to teach them the Bible. You need to teach them worship. You need to teach them respect.
00:03:41.424 --> 00:03:52.431
You're not just their mom. You're their coach. You're their teacher. You're their instructor, you're their counselor. All before Jesus is. It's first you. This is your role now.
00:03:52.487 --> 00:04:09.099
Yeah. I don't know about you, but that's always fired me up when it comes to my kids. The fact that I am their first Bible teacher, like, I'm their first music teacher, I'm their first pastor, I guess you could say, like, I'm, I'm their first leader.
00:04:09.252 --> 00:04:27.355
Yeah. So what a responsibility, what a gift. I get to now. Train them in the way that they should go, which, remember that the Bible says train them in the way they should go. Not teach them, but train them. Yeah. Like a coach would train a soccer player or a football player. It's an everyday thing.
00:04:27.540 --> 00:05:29.980
So how do I make this big message small and simple? This is the first day that you can start training them to be a man or a woman of God. Don't let this day go to waste. Write down bible verses and put them on the windows in the morning for them to go to and read every single day. Teach them songs. I teach Gia so many different songs about how God is always watching her try to make big topics in the Bible simple through song. And teach them. But don't waste the day when you're cooking. Teach them how to serve and decorate the table before you have dinner, when dad comes home, when mom is there. Teach them how to go and run to their parents and give them a hug and to say hello. Teach them manners. You're raising them to be arrows in the hands of a warrior. And there's small values to teach them, and there's big values to teach them. But you can start teaching them today. This is what your season is for, mothers. It's to train your children.
00:05:30.132 --> 00:06:21.192
So use today to train them, to teach them and to coach them, because every single lesson, it does not go to waste. It's used to sharpen them every single day. No, I love that. I love that. That was great. And it's like you said, such a powerful, powerful message made so simple. So that was a great, great job. And it does take a village. Steph, will you lead us out in prayer for today? Yes. Let's do it. God, thank you for the children you have brought into our lives. Yes, there are exhausting days. There are distracting days, and there's days that we can forget why we're even having more children, because it is so difficult sometimes. But, God, you have given them to us. It is a gift to be fertile. It's a gift to have children. So, God, we're. Thank you for the children that you have placed in our lives. Show us how to teach them as we raise them.
00:06:21.338 --> 00:06:25.076
Show us how to speak, calling, and purpose in their lives.
00:06:25.220 --> 00:07:15.254
Show us how to teach them boldness and authority and confidence and identity. Show us how to teach them, you, father, to our children. And let us not waste a day. Let us not get distracted in our own frustrations or let us not lose our patience in the middle of the day. But, God, fill us up, Father, with more joy and more patience so that we can raise our children to be sharp arrows for your kingdom, God. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte. Is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
