You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1005. Today's diva was called show me your id. Hey, there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.277 --> 00:01:40.584
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Happy Friday, everybody. You made it to the end of the week. I am Lauren Alessi, joined once again by my sister, Stephanie Muenya. What's up, everybody? Good to have you once again. Steph, you are killing it this week. Thank you. And just a reminder to our listeners, we do have a new text line. Just want to remind you once again, if you would like to leave a comment or a message or even a question for us, just go ahead and tap the link in the description on any app that you are listening on. We would love to hear from you, so just let us know. Okay? So, Stephanie, it's Friday. We're about to hit the weekend. Why don't you hit us with one last devotional? Let's do it. And Mother's Day is in a couple days. Mamas, make sure you communicate what you would like now before you wake up disappointed. That's very true. Just tell them what you want, what you like. Just make it easy on them. This devotional is called show me your id. And it just hit me. I don't think I've been carded in a couple years now. And I've. You know, I'm a little disappointed about that now. I'm a little sad, but whatever. I think it's the two babies you bring with you everywhere, I think. Or the wrinkles. Yeah, I do have some wrinkles, Lauren. That's. Wow.
00:01:42.004 --> 00:02:18.229
You didn't deny it. You didn't deny it. Well, you said it. So what am I supposed to do? Let's move on. I'm bummed. But no, this one is called show me your id because I want to encourage you mothers one last time about who your identity is found in. And again, let me just remind you, your husband is your number one best friend, and he's the love of your life. He is the best guy in the world, but he's not your God. Yeah. Your children are the cutest, most amazing little beings in the world.
00:02:18.421 --> 00:02:29.574
And they have showed you things about yourself and life that you have never seen before, and they have made you feel a love that you've never felt before. However, they are not your God.
00:02:30.033 --> 00:02:44.225
Your family is a part of who you are now. Yeah, I told somebody the other day, it's like putting pants on in the morning. Your family is just. You're a part of. You are them, and they are you. Yeah. They are just a part of your life. However, they're not your God.
00:02:44.289 --> 00:03:13.997
Yeah. Jesus is your God. Jesus Christ is your identity. Everything you are is now found in him. Everything you get is now from him. All of your joy, all of your confidence, all of your boldness, your personality, who you are in the innermost parts of your heart that comes from Jesus Christ. Your peace, your sanity, it all comes from him.
00:03:14.165 --> 00:03:36.283
Galatians 220 says, I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but it's Christ who lives in me, in the life I now live, in the flesh. I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. But again, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. Motherhood is very hard.
00:03:36.443 --> 00:04:02.822
I don't think anybody could prepare you for the hardships that motherhood brings. And it will test you. On the days that you are the most exhausted, take your, your most frustrating day and then have a toddler throw a tantrum and have everything go awry. It will test you in ways you never thought you could be tested. And you are way past your last straw. You're way past that.
00:04:02.957 --> 00:04:09.806
You are you. It is something that can really frustrate you and tire you in ways you never thought you could be.
00:04:09.830 --> 00:04:35.324
Tired. But I have now seen in my journey of motherhood that the only thing that can bring joy back to me, the only thing that can give me my, my energy back, the only thing that can bring back my patience and my grace for the day is Jesus. Nothing else. Yeah. I have spent a day getting self care. I've gotten my nails done. I've gotten my hair done, although that helps, too. That's amazing.
00:04:36.603 --> 00:04:54.348
I want a night out with my friends. I need time alone. That always helps me. But what heals me is Jesus. Those things are little vitamins. They're supplements. But what heals me is Jesus. What fulfills what fulfills me. Yeah.
00:04:54.435 --> 00:05:34.028
And it brings everything back into perspective. I spoke a lot about gratefulness this past week and the goodness of God. The only thing that can bring all of those things back into alignment and into perspective is pursuing Jesus. Yeah. You don't need anything else but Jesus. I will believe that till the day I die, I will die on that hill. You don't need anything except Jesus. Your children, they need Jesus. Your household needs Jesus. Your marriage, it needs Jesus. Put on the worship music. Take minutes out of your day to talk to God one on one. Not a walking, talking conversation, but an intentional prayer time meditation with the Holy Spirit. And fill yourself back up with Jesus.
00:05:34.156 --> 00:05:48.824
Because that will make you proud of your motherhood. That'll make you grateful for your motherhood. And before Mother's day comes, make sure you remember who gave you the opportunity to be a mother. And that is Jesus. So, moms, show me your id.
00:05:49.244 --> 00:06:17.362
It better be Jesus Christ on that thing because your identity needs to be found in Jesus. My identity is found in Jesus. And I'm thankful for that every single day because he's the one that gives me my joy, my peace, my strength. He gives me the patience to get through the day, and he makes the day amazing. I love it. I love it. I will always second that message. Always. Because I think as humans, there are things we need, like family, friends, water. But as spiritual beings, we always need Jesus. We always need God.
00:06:17.497 --> 00:07:01.622
So, Stephanie, will you lead us out in prayer for today? Let's do it. God, we thank you for an amazing week. And we thank you for an even better weekend. I pray that every listener listening that their houses will be filled with so much joy this weekend as they celebrate their moms. And that God, they will remember to buy the gift their mom wants, God. And that there will just be peace, there will be excitement, there will be joy, there will be good meals and good gifts. And that this weekend will be a memorable one. Father, we thank you for an incredible week, and we remember to put you at the center of everything that we do because we're not going to find our things in earthly goods. We want to find our joy in you, God. And in Jesus name we pray.
00:07:01.718 --> 00:07:09.086
Amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
00:07:09.230 --> 00:07:24.394
We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
