You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1244. Today's Devo is called Spring Into Spring. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Thursday, everybody. My name is Stephanie, and I am so happy to welcome you to our My Morning Devotional Podcast. I again love this season of spring. I love the colors, I love the weather. I love it all. It's my favorite. I am a spring girl. I'm actually a summer girl, but that's a topic for another day. But I love spring. Spring. Spring is our doorway into summer. And I want to dive into this season of spring. It's my favorite because it's about new life and new creation, which you are. So let's do it.

00:01:02.716 --> 00:01:17.284
17, and it says, therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone, the new is here. Amen. Hallelujah.

00:01:17.331 --> 00:01:24.370
Let's dive into this. So I don't know if you have seen it, but there is a movie called About Time.

00:01:24.750 --> 00:01:45.597
And if you want to watch it, if you are an adult, if you are a mature adult, go ahead and watch it. I think there's one inappropriate scene, so I apologize if it's inappropriate. I do not condone any inappropriate scenes in movies, but I will say this movie is a really good movie. And it's about a guy who has the ability to travel back in time and change anything he wants.

00:01:45.774 --> 00:01:56.317
He goes back in time and tries to meet his wife again. Because the first time he met her, he embarrassed himself. So he tries to go back to that one moment and make himself look really cool.

00:01:56.493 --> 00:02:17.987
So instead of him choosing to redo his mistakes, he chooses to relive every day again. And when he relives his day, what he does is he adds a little bit of joy into it. So, for example, if all he did was ride the train to work, he would relive that moment just riding the train.

00:02:18.163 --> 00:02:25.427
But instead of just standing there not talking to anybody, he would relive that moment on the train and smile at everyone next to him.

00:02:25.563 --> 00:02:40.105
If he went to work, he would stop and ask everyone around him how they were doing. If he was having dinner at home, he would relive that dinner at home, and instead of sitting in silence, he would think of fun conversation for the dinner table.

00:02:40.298 --> 00:04:12.955
So eventually he got into the practice of doing that every day, where he would live the same day twice that eventually he stopped going back in time and he simply started living in the present every day, adding joy into his everyday. And it was such a beautiful example of enjoying the simple things in your life. You know, something about me is I believe deeply that it's Jesus, and only Jesus that can turn simple things in your everyday life into your greatest accolades. A simple cup of coffee. If you add Jesus to that, it becomes the greatest coffee of your life. A sweet hug with your husband or wife. Add Jesus to that, and it renews your love for your marriage all over again. Holding your baby's hands. Add Jesus to that, and you have an overload of gratitude for the family you're growing. Going to the park, taking a walk after dinner, just adding Jesus to that, and it makes it so much more quality. You know, Jesus, he's the one that gave us this life to live. So live it. And you don't have to go travel the world to live it. You can live it in the simple things. Like I said, going to the park, taking a walk after dinner, hugging your spouse, holding your baby's hands, that's living life. You don't have to do these massive gestures to live out your life.

00:04:13.027 --> 00:04:23.560
You can do those things, too. That's beautiful. But also, on a random Tuesday night, having popcorn in a movie with your spouse, that's living the life Jesus gave you.

00:04:23.870 --> 00:04:45.329
And if you just add Jesus to it and you allow his joy to take over those moments, you're truly living life. That's what I love about spring. It reminds you that your new season of flourishing blossoms and the trees turning green again and the grass turning green again.

00:04:45.629 --> 00:04:59.779
It just reminds you that Jesus, he can make things new again. And you may be going through a season of lots of high pressure or stress or loss or grieving, whatever it may be.

00:05:00.480 --> 00:06:15.255
Allow this season to remind you that when you add Jesus to it, he can bring that new creation that you need. The new creation has come, the old has gone, and the new is here. So embrace the new life of spring. This season, the old is gone, and you are a new creation in Jesus. Live out that new life. And guys, start simple. There is so much joy ahead of you. We're releasing a new song. It's called Alive in Me Metro Life Worship. My church's worship team is releasing it in April. And it's all about how Jesus died on the cross so that you can live a life with Jesus. Jesus living in you. And he's in you wherever you go. So embrace that and live out the life that he's given you. Let's pray. God, we thank you for the simple things in our life. Yes, you've given us grand things, but you've also gifted us with the small moments. Our mornings, our afternoons, our nights. You gave that to us as a gift. So Father, allow us to see you in the small things. Allow us to see your presence, your gift to us, and the small things throughout our day.

00:06:15.408 --> 00:06:58.360
And allow us to pursue those small things. Allow us to bring joy into those small things so that we can partner with you. So that our everyday life is something special. It's something new. It's something that is fresh and grand in the small, everyday things that you give us. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen. And Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend.
