You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1161. Today's devotional is called Standing with a Savior. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.048 --> 00:00:47.658
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning everybody and Merry Christmas. We will continue on with the story of Jesus being born. My name is Stephanie Munya and I love coming on here and reading the Scriptures with you all, especially when it's around the Christmas time. So let's dive into it.
00:00:47.707 --> 00:01:42.965
I love what we're going to share today. We are reading from Luke 2, 8, 14, and it says in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock at night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near them. And the glory of the Lord shone around them and they were terribly frightened. And so the angel said to them, do not be afraid. For behold, I bring you good news of great joy, which will be for all the people. For today in the city of David, there has been born for you a savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you. You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there appeared with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly army of angels praising God and saying, glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace among people with whom he is pleased.
00:01:43.125 --> 00:02:27.925
So if you are supporting us through Buy me a coffee, you would have seen my video last week that shared with you guys. Whenever you read the Scriptures, it's good to ask yourself these two questions. Number one, what does the Bible say about God? The scripture I'm reading right now, what is it saying about God? And then number two, what is the Scripture telling me? So when we come to this verse where it says that the Lord is bringing a Savior who is bringing good news of great joy, which will be for all the people, what this says about God is that he wants to bring you. He wants to bring me. He wants to bring for all the people good news of great joy.
00:02:28.344 --> 00:02:53.393
How beautiful is it to know that we have a God who wants to give us good news of great joy. And it's a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And not only is he a savior, but he brings peace to those that he is pleased with how beautiful is it that we have a God who is not a cold man just sitting on the throne, not talking to us.
00:02:53.568 --> 00:03:37.235
But he is a loving father who wants to give us good news of great joy to everyone. Not just one group of people, not just one gender, not just one race, not just one nation, but to all people. So we've answered the question, what does it say about God? And that says that he wants to give us good news. And then the second question is, what does this scripture tell us? Well, it tells us that we have good news of great joy. So let me ask you this question. Are you living in today like you have just heard the good news? Are you going into today knowing that you have a savior?
00:03:37.615 --> 00:04:24.187
You know the Word says that God gives us life and life more abundantly. So am I living like God has given me life abundantly? Am I living like I've just received the greatest news in the world, which is I have a Savior who's the Prince of peace. So that's my encouragement to you today. Walk around knowing that you are standing with a savior. You are living with a loving God. You have the Prince of peace in your life. He was given to us by God as good news for great Joy. And he was given to all peoples. In any season of your life, it doesn't matter what you might be doing, it doesn't matter what you might be living, you are given a savior.
00:04:24.331 --> 00:04:35.644
So stand with the Savior today knowing you have just received the greatest news in the world, that Jesus Christ is your Savior and you can walk in peace throughout today.
00:04:35.805 --> 00:05:04.894
Let's pray. God, we thank you so much for this good news of great joy. Our Savior Jesus Christ has come to us from you. Thank you for being a loving God to us. Thank you for being a protective father who cares for us and who gives us gifts in the form of your son. We thank you for that Jesus. Now Father, we're going to walk into today knowing that we have just received the greatest news to ever be told.
00:05:05.055 --> 00:05:27.464
We have a Savior who stands with us, who guides us, who loves us, who accepts us, who gives us grace, who forgives us, who encourages us. We stand with that Savior, Jesus Christ, the Lord of all. So let today be filled with joy and peace as we walk in that knowledge and in Jesus name we all pray.
00:05:27.584 --> 00:05:51.225
Amen and Amen. So there you have it, your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
