You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1138. Today's Devo is called Thankful for Mercy. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.129 --> 00:00:55.472
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Wednesday, everybody. My name is Lauren Alessi. Super excited to be here again, just talking about Thanksgiving and gratefulness and just increasing our gratefulness for this season because again, I'm human and I know I need it and I'm praying you need it too, and you're enjoying this season. Okay, so let's just jump straight into the word we are reading today out of

00:00:55.529 --> 00:01:02.752
12 17. And then afterwards we will jump a little bit into 2 Corinthians, but

00:01:02.848 --> 00:01:06.685
1217.

00:01:06.984 --> 00:01:20.935
Again, I enjoy reading out of the ESV, the English standard Version. So let's begin reading. I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful.

00:01:21.875 --> 00:01:55.174
Interesting. Good point. Sometimes you just need to take a pause and a breath while reading the Bible. Because he judged me faithful. Because some points, you could just keep reading through some points. It's like, okay, yeah, that's true. He did judge me faithful. I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service. Amen. Through formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy. Thank you, Jesus. Because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief.

00:01:55.474 --> 00:02:41.794
This is very true for me. I can speak for myself. And the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Jesus Christ. I love how the Bible puts this because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief. Sometimes we just act so ignorant in our unbelief and in our own belief in ourself. But the grace of God just overflows with the faith and love that is in Jesus Christ. The saying is trustworthy and deserving a full acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

00:02:43.055 --> 00:02:49.639
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, and only God be honor and glory forever and ever.

00:02:49.727 --> 00:03:18.266
Amen. I just want to encourage all the listeners that this is a great verse to send your friends, whether they're new to salvation, whether they are thinking about salvation, or whether they've just been in the faith a long time. And maybe this is something that's an encouragement for you. But salvation, the idea of salvation and thanking God for what he did on the cross, it's never something that gets lost in us or should get lost in us. It's always a good reminder of why Jesus came onto this earth.

00:03:18.450 --> 00:03:40.502
His amazing grace, his amazing mercy. And it's always something that we should be reminded of that we received mercy for this reason, that Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. And we just thank him to him be the glory and the honor forever and ever. Amen. So now we're going to jump into Second

00:03:40.558 --> 00:04:12.634
15 and it says this for it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people, it may increase thanksgiving to the glory of God. Let's pray. Lord, we thank you so much for your amazing salvation and what it does not only to our lives, but to the lives of others around us. Because. Because truthfully, Lord, we would not be here today without your salvation, God. And we just thank you and lift you up for that. All the glory and all the honor goes to you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:04:13.574 --> 00:04:34.345
So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
