The Blessing Of Obedience

Have you ever seen your own obedience to God bringing blessings in your life?

Happy Friday! Today, we're wrapping up our week-long exploration of obedience with a devotional titled "The Blessing of Obedience." Over the week, we've explored why we obey God, stemming from our love and submission to Him, and how it molds us to be more like Christ. In today's episode, we focus on the blessings that come from walking in obedience, reflecting on Psalm 128:1.

You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1115. This devo is called the Blessing of obedience. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.525 --> 00:00:37.396
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Happy Friday. This is Gabby closing out our week of obedience.

00:00:37.508 --> 00:00:48.659
And I just. I hope this blessed you. And, you know, even if you're not in a season. Now, look, I've said this from the beginning. I believe our whole life is a life of obedience. We don't have seasons of obedience.

00:00:48.780 --> 00:01:25.203
We live a life of obedience. But if you're in a moment right now or in a time where you're feeling like you're being obedient, I hope this blessed you. But if you're not, I hope this blessed you, and I hope this spoke to you, because these are things that have just been ringing in my spirit, stirring in my spirit. And I love that we can always go back to the word and we can go back to these five verses and these five different stories, really, that have shaped this week and have, have stirred up this week. And so today, we talked so much this week about why we obey and, and how do we obey, and the picture of obedience.

00:01:25.382 --> 00:01:29.000
But today I want to wrap it up with the blessing of obedience.

00:01:29.079 --> 00:01:54.736
And this is psalms 128, one. And it says this, blessed are all who fear the Lord who walk in obedience to him. We are blessed when we fear God and walk in obedience unto him. We are blessed when we obey him because we love him. So let's do a quick run through. Remember, day one, we talked about we obey God because we love him.

00:01:54.927 --> 00:02:02.304
Day two, we obey God because we are submitted to him because he asked for it. We are not going to negotiate.

00:02:02.352 --> 00:02:16.271
We're not going to think of new ways. We're going to serve him. We're going to obey him because we're submitted to him. We obey God because we serve him and not the plans he has for us. We obey him because he's God and he's the ruler of our life.

00:02:16.336 --> 00:02:30.330
And, and we love him and we want to serve him. And we're not thinking about the plans or all the different things he can give us. We said it on day two, don't worry about the steak and lobster. Just worry about him asking you for the steak, man, I'm getting hungry today.

00:02:30.830 --> 00:02:49.319
Day four. Yesterday, we talked about how obedience makes us more like Christ and how we learned the picture of obedience through Jesus Christ. In his sufferings, he learned to obey. And so finally, the point. Number five, day five, when we obey God, he calls us blessed.

00:02:49.659 --> 00:03:07.635
So I hope on this final day on this Friday, as you've heard all of these things, as we've. We've just kind of dived into obedience and we've discussed it, and we've had a really sweet conversation about all of it. I hope we remember the blessing that comes to our lives when we're obedient.

00:03:07.828 --> 00:05:48.129
There is a real blessing of obedience to kind of tie up. This entire week, I shared it on day two. But when the Lord asked me, and the Lord, I had a moment of sacrifice to him, and I had a moment where God asked me, you know, sacrifice this thing on the altar, I remember thinking that thing was so near and dear to my heart, I'll never have something like that again. And I know the whole steak and lobster thing, we give it because of the steak. But can I tell you, God has blessed me with steak, lobster, scallops, shrimps, you name it. A whole buffet of blessings because of that step of obedience. And I've been so grateful because since that moment, since the moment that I offered that thing on the altar, since the moment I was obedient to God, I have seen the Lord just really take me from glory to glory, and. And I have peace in my life. I have assurance in my life. I have confidence in my life. The relationships in my life are healthy. Healthy. The people around me are healthy. My job is healthy. And I know there's so many contributing factors, but I always point back to that season, in that moment where God called me to obey, and I just, you know, I don't even want to think about what would happen if I didn't do it. You know, it's just that moment of, like, lord, don't take me back there. Because what Lord, what the Lord has done in my life has surpassed all of my desires and all of my expectations. And it is true. God removes steak in my plate. But, man, the lobster is so much better. The steak is a better temperature that it's cooked at, and there's more food on the way. And so that is the blessing of obedience. Psalm 128. Let's say it again. Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. Lord, I thank you for this week. I thank you that you call us, that you use us, and that you ask us, Lord, to obey you. I thank you that you give us the opportunity, Lord, to walk away from things, to walk into things, Lord, I thank you for that. But, Lord, I ultimately thank you for the blessing that you pour on us when we are obedient to you. I thank you, God, that you always make it better and you surpass all of our expectations. So I pray for everybody listening to this today, that you would bless them for their obedience, that you would bless them for their submission to you, that you would bless them for their love for you. I thank you for it. In Jesus name we pray. Amen and amen. Have a great weekend.
