The Main Thing

The Main Thing

What does it truly mean to keep the main thing, the main thing in our spiritual life?

In today's episode of My Morning Devotional, Gaby explore the profound simplicity yet deep significance of loving God and loving His people. Rooted in Matthew 22:37-39, they remind listeners of the two greatest commandments: to love the Lord with all our hearts, souls, and minds, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Gaby reflects on how embodying these commandments can transform our daily interactions—whether at work, at church, or even online—into expressions of divine love.

Join Gaby as she encourages you to make loving God and His people your foremost priority, sharing personal insights and biblical wisdom on how these acts of love are the truest reflection of our faith. Embrace this heartfelt devotional that calls for a renewal in how we approach our relationships with God and others, all while securing a deeper connection to the essence of Christian life.

Tune in as we pray for the grace to love more deeply and sincerely, following the perfect example set by Jesus.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1215. Today's Devo is called the Main Thing. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.087 --> 00:00:29.083
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast.

00:00:29.211 --> 00:01:11.591
Well, we've made it and every time I promise you a shorter episode, I give you a longer one. So today I'm going to give you a long one and maybe the opposite will be true. We've made it to the end of the week, guys. Thank you so much for enjoying this week. Thank you for your feedback. Thank you for your texts and your congratulations and your support and your just your kind words. I am blessed. We are blessed because of this community of My Morning Devo. And although I might not know your name, know your face, know your background, just know that because we are sisters in Christ, we are brothers in Christ, we are family of the most high. We have a connection and I thank you for that and I am blessed because of you. Today we're going to keep the main thing, the main thing. And we're going to look at Matthew

00:01:11.656 --> 00:01:26.506
37 39 that says this. Jesus replied, love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself. I challenge you today.

00:01:26.578 --> 00:02:45.693
I encourage you today. I just leave you with this number one, let's love God. Let's love him with all of our heart, with all of our soul, with all of our mind. Let's be talking to him today. I love this devotional because it's the perfect setup. It's the perfect beginning to our time with the Lord. And I would encourage you that after this devo and whenever you listening to, listen to the My Morning devo, let it just be the beginning of your time with the Lord. And after the devo is over, just start talking to him. Just have your own time of prayer and your own time of relationship with the Lord. So love him today. Show him that you love him, tell him that you love him and let it be with your whole heart, let it be with your whole soul, with your whole mind and, and everything we do in today, when it comes to raising our kids, going to the job, going to school, posting on social Media let everything be in direction or be a result of how much we love the Lord with all of our heart, with all of our soul, with all of our mind. And then secondly it says this, love your neighbor as yourself. I think it's interesting that these are the two greatest commandments. Love God and love his people. It not love God and serve him. It's not love God and tithe. It's not love God and give.

00:02:45.782 --> 00:03:25.548
It's not love God and take communion. It's not love God and prophesy, it's love God and love his people. It doesn't diminish all of those other things that God commands us to do, like tithing, like giving and even in uplifting and encouraging through prophecy. But it is saying that these are the two greatest commandments. Loving God and loving his people. And so many of us and maybe you know, people and maybe this is you. We will put other things on top of loving God's people. We will make it like, well, God, I give to you. Well God I serve. But we won't love God's people. We show up to church on Sunday and we are just, we're there

00:03:25.683 --> 00:03:32.210
00pm and we're amazing. But we're not loving people through it all.

00:03:32.750 --> 00:05:10.680
And so our heart always has to be, God, I love you and I love your people. And let that be the first thing that I do every day. Let that be the first thing that I do when I walk into church. Let that be the first thing I do when I walk into my office. Let me show the people around me that I love the Lord and I love his people. Reminds me of that story in the Bible when Jesus is talking to Peter. And this is right before Peter is leaving. Excuse me. This is right before Jesus is about to ascend back into heaven. And so this was like their last breakfast or dinner that they were having. And Jesus looks at Peter and he says, peter, do you love me? Peter says, of course I love you, Jesus. And he says, feed my sheep. And then he says it again, Peter, do you love me? Peter's like, yeah, Jesus, I love you so much. Like, of course, you just asked me that. And he says, tend to my sheep. And then he asked Peter again, peter, do you love me? And it actually says that Peter, like frustratedly said, jesus, I've just told you, yes, I do. Like I love you. And then he says, feed my, my sheep, take care of my sheep. And I think it's a beautiful thing of like we show God how much we love him through how we take care of his people and through how we love his people. And it's just like any good father would. A father wants his kids to love one another. His good father wants his kids to get along. And so for us, we know we love God, but we got to love his people, too. And that's our challenge today. That's our reminder. We love the Lord our God with all of our heart, with all of our soul, with all of our mind. And we love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Man, if you love yourself a lot, then you better love your friends. I know that the followers on this podcast, you are going to love your friends, right? Because, man, we love ourselves, right?

00:05:10.800 --> 00:05:14.526
And let that love display in how we love the people around us.

00:05:14.567 --> 00:05:21.314
Us. So I hope you enjoyed this week's podcast. If you have any more questions, I'd love to answer them. But let's end this with a word of prayer.

00:05:21.362 --> 00:05:50.560
Father, we just thank you for today. We thank you for this week. We thank you for. For what you're doing in us, what you're stirring in us, and what your Holy Spirit stirred up in us this past week. We thank you for it, Father. God, we love you. Even right now, as I. As I pray, I. I encourage you to just tell the Lord how much you love him. God, we love you. We love you with all of our heart, with all of our soul, with all of our mind. We love you because of who you are, not because of what you do for us, not because of your hand. But we love you because of your heart. We love you as our Father.

00:05:50.899 --> 00:06:08.649
We thank you, Father, for who you are. And God, we love your people. And today I pray that all of us would love people differently. We would love people and show the love to the people in our lives a little bit more. So we thank you for it all. We bless your name in Jesus name. Amen. Bye, everybody.

00:06:10.350 --> 00:06:31.110
