Values

Values

What makes you truly feel valued?

In today's episode, host Stephanie Muiña explores the theme of intrinsic value, drawing inspiration from Paul's teachings in Philippians. With heartfelt honesty, she shares her journey of questioning her own worth amidst life's changing seasons and responsibilities. Despite significant life changes, Stephanie learns that her worth isn't defined by accomplishments or roles but is rooted deeply in Jesus Christ. She emphasizes the transformative reassurance that, in Christ's eyes, we are always enough. Stephanie encourages us to shift our value back to Jesus, who affirms our worth beyond worldly achievements.

Join Stephanie in this uplifting devotional as she prays for renewed confidence in Christ's unwavering love, urging our community to find solace and strength in this truth through heartfelt prayer and devotion.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1221. Today's Devo is called Values. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Monday. This is Stephanie, and I am so excited for the set of podcasts that we have for this week. I'm going to be diving into a very important topic for me personally right now, and that is the topic of what makes up your value, what makes you feel valued, and are we placing our value in the right thing? I'm being very open and honest with you guys today, which is my favorite because I love to be open and honest with you guys. I wear my heart on my sleeve.

00:01:00.536 --> 00:01:04.120
I'm sure you can tell, but let's dive into it.

00:01:04.239 --> 00:01:07.992
What do we base our value off of?

00:01:08.176 --> 00:01:19.152
I'm reading from Philippians, Philippians 3, 4, NIV. And it says, though I myself have reasons for such confidence. Pause. Back it up.

00:01:19.296 --> 00:01:48.519
Paul is pretty much bragging about how he has every right to brag about how good he is, but then he's going to twist it and you're going to see the surprise. Let's start again. Though I myself have reasons for such confidence, says Paul. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more. I was circumcised on the eighth day of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew, of Hebrews in regard to the law, a Pharisee. As for zeal, I persecuted the church.

00:01:48.599 --> 00:01:52.311
And as for righteousness based on the law, I was faultless.

00:01:52.456 --> 00:02:37.123
And this is when he turns. But whatever were gains to me, I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ, Jesus, my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all, all things. This is when he nails it in. I consider them garbage that I may gain Christ and be found in him. Oh my gosh. You know, every time I read this verse, guys, I really relate to it. Because if you don't know my upbringing, just like Paul was raised in the temple, you could say as a young Jewish man, I was raised in the church.

00:02:37.322 --> 00:02:58.752
My parents are pastors. They continue to pastor. My whole family is a pastoring family. I was Raised in a very safe, protected environment. I was reading my Bible since I was like 3 years old. I got saved when I was 12. And then I went to youth camps all those years. I've done all the Bible classes.

00:02:58.816 --> 00:03:09.795
I went to a Christian school. But something happened as of late, when I got married and when I started having babies because I got pregnant two months after I got married.

00:03:09.987 --> 00:04:12.879
And all of my involvement, all of my songwriting, all of my working at the church 24 7, staying there all day, all day long, which was my pride and joy, the constant availability I had with my friends at church, it all just came to a slight halt. Now I still do it, and I get to do it with my husband and with my family, which is way better than doing it alone. But I will say it did cause me to question my values or what it is that I build my foundation on. My foundation of value. Because the gifts that I put so much pride in before are now slowing down a little bit because I have babies to take care of. The availability that I stretched and I took advantage of before is not so. Is very slim now because I'm married with babies. And you know, when you are in this season and you have the thought of, am I just not good enough anymore?

00:04:13.039 --> 00:04:15.900
Am I not using my gifts because I'm just not good enough?

00:04:16.360 --> 00:04:34.648
Then right there, that thought alone is a trigger that you are not placing your value in the right thing. I've been placing my value in my gifting this whole time. I've been placing my value in the good things I could do to impress people.

00:04:34.783 --> 00:04:45.220
I've been placing my value in my songwriting, in my can do it attitude. And then suddenly when things slow down, I feel like I have no value.

00:04:45.519 --> 00:04:56.389
Paul says that I am nothing without Christ. That all those things that I used to take pride in, they are all garbage.

00:04:57.129 --> 00:05:07.906
You know, our jobs, our callings, our gifts, they do not make us. Jesus makes us. Jesus is who creates us.

00:05:07.978 --> 00:05:11.793
Jesus is who forms us. Jesus is who makes us confident.

00:05:11.922 --> 00:05:19.074
Jesus is who takes the fear away. Jesus is who brings the anointing to our gifts. Jesus is who takes all the worry away.

00:05:19.242 --> 00:05:30.553
We can't do our life without Jesus. And if you ever have a day where you question, am I good enough? Am I doing enough? Am I. Am I not enough for this?

00:05:30.641 --> 00:05:34.314
Then that is a sign that you need to place your value back in Jesus.

00:05:34.442 --> 00:06:21.485
Because Jesus is constantly saying, you are enough. You are my daughter. You are my son. I've put taking you through this season for a reason. I'm taking you through this time. I've equipped you with these things for a reason. But even if you just sat there with Jesus and did nothing, then you are enough. Even if you just lifted up your hands and said I praise you Jesus, then that makes you enough. You don't have to prove your worth to God. You don't have to prove your worth to Jesus. He looks at you and he says you are enough. And if you weren't, he would not have died on the cross all those years ago. But he looked at you, he and said that you are worth it. So that's my encouragement to you today. Jesus is your number one value.

00:06:21.637 --> 00:07:05.019
He's your number one foundation of confidence. He's your number one gift in life. Not the giftings that you can perform. But Jesus is your number one gift in your life. So stand on him today and be encouraged that you are enough. All because of Jesus. Yes, let's pray. God, we thank you so much for the life that you have given us. And God we thank you that we are enough. Because of you and because you love us. You look down from heaven and you say that we are enough. You love us just for who we are. And we thank you for your friendship and we pray that this week will be a blessed week filled with your value. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:07:05.930 --> 00:07:26.769
