You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1023. Today's Devo is called walking humbly. Hey there. We're the Alesis, a ministry family working. Together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days. Get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.309 --> 00:00:43.762
That's why we partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Well, happy Wednesday, everybody. We are back to another great episode of the my Morning Devotional podcast. This is Gabbia Lessie, your host for the week with my sister, Lauren. Hello, everybody. Lauren, you've been killing it this week. Thank you.
00:00:43.817 --> 00:00:47.369
How are you feeling in the middle of this week right now? I feel great.
00:00:47.442 --> 00:01:34.146
I feel very humbled. You feel humbled? Yes. I have a feeling when people start to listen to this and it starts to air, because we did tell everybody at our anniversary podcast, or a thousand episodes, that we filmed these more back to back, and then we aired them differently. But it is incredible, the timing of the Lord. I know that we really are not in control of this. This is not something that we sit down and we go, okay, we're going to put this on this day. God really does supply the spirit that supports this podcast in each episode. And so I can just already sense, and I'm going to sound very christianese, but in the spirit that this teaching or this devotional topic is going to be very much needed the week that it airs. Yeah. So I'm really glad that you stepped into doing this today.
00:01:34.250 --> 00:02:20.877
Thank you. Tell us about walking humbly. You have a great verse here today, and take us into it. Yes, it's Micah six eight. And it says, he has told you, o man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? So that's why it's called walking humbly, because we must walk humbly with God. But this comes from a chapter in Micah, and it says in big, bold letters, what does the Lord require? And then the verse in Micah six, it's basically a kind of a beautiful, like, poem. And it's like, does the Lord require burnt offerings of a one year old calf? Does he require, you know, sacrifices every day? Does he require a thousand rams, all these things? And then it says, no.
00:02:20.925 --> 00:02:37.942
The Lord requires what is good, to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. And I was like, man, this is such an interesting verse, because you don't hear the word require a lot in the Bible. There are a lot of things that you must do. Yes, but you don't hear, like, the Lord requires this of you.
00:02:38.038 --> 00:02:41.786
You hear that a few times in the Bible, but it's not there a lot.
00:02:41.949 --> 00:03:18.169
And so I found it very interesting how humility is a requirement from God. And to walk humbly with God, that's a requirement for God. And so I was like, we need to talk about this verse today. We need to bring it up. But the Lord requires us to love kindness, to do what is just, and to walk humbly with him. And whether you're in a season of, I've prayed for this. I've sewed for this for a long time, and I'm not seeing it anywhere in my life. And that's developing a pride in you, or almost this. You're becoming too familiar with God, and you're asking a lot from him. That's the thing, too. I know.
00:03:18.201 --> 00:03:21.186
I've struggled with that before, and I have to be like, hold on a second.
00:03:21.330 --> 00:03:43.448
My life purpose is to exalt God. Yes. I need to humble myself before the Lord here. Or if you're just going through a season where maybe life's pretty good and maybe you haven't dedicated time to reading his word, to worshiping him, to meditating the word, and dedicating 2030 minutes to an hour out of your day, to really focusing on God.
00:03:43.575 --> 00:04:24.685
Okay, then that's something you must do to humble yourself before the Lord. You don't want to develop a too familiar spirit with God where, oh, you guys are good, and you don't need to talk. And that's not. No, you need to humble yourself before the Lord. Our life goal, the reason we were created, is to exalt him and to glorify him through everything we do in our life. And that comes with being humble with him and walking humbly with him in all that we do. Yes. And I love this verse, Lauren, because I just read it on my phone here, and it actually is a question. Like, he ends it on a question almost as if, like, what else are you going to do? I know. Like, this is what God requires of us, and this is what we have to do. And it's like, why? Why are you going to act rude when he requires kindness?
00:04:24.750 --> 00:05:18.153
I know, and it almost puts you in this place of, like, this is the best option. Why try something else? I know, and I think that's a beautiful verse. I love, Lauren, that it's Old Testament can I tell you, I love that it's an old Testament verse. Cause so many of us as christians, we just forsake the Old Testament and we think it's not for us. But that is not true at all. It's one book. It's one book. And go look at what you can write right now and google what does Jesus say about the Old Testament and the law? And you will get your answer on whether or not you should read and receive from the Old Testament. And this is beautiful because it's true. Humility is a requirement. Kindness, it's a requirement loving the Lord to do justice. Those are things that God is asking and requiring of us to do. And like, it ends in a question mark. Why? What else are you going to do? I know, why try something else when God asks this of us? So this is beautiful. Now, this is. This can be just to kind of finish this up.
00:05:18.233 --> 00:05:42.908
This can be a difficult thing because today in the world, they don't speak kindness, they don't speak how to act justly to one another. Obviously, we talk about justice, but I don't think it's handled in the godly way. And a lot of people struggle with humility. They'd rather walk in pride. Be proud of who you are. Be proud of who you represent. Be proud of the. The company that you're a part of or the church that you're even a part of. You know, there's a lot of pride.
00:05:43.036 --> 00:06:44.562
And so I think with this devo today, as much as we can give advice and we can use this verse, I think the prayer is going to be where there's power in it today. Yeah. So as you pray for them today, just pray about this. Pray about how they receive this and how we can walk differently and. And not just hear the word, but be doers of this word. Yeah, absolutely. Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you right now, Lord, that we were created to glorify you in all that we do. God, we were not created just to be moms, daughters, fathers, sons. We were created for so much more. And that in being moms, daughters, fathers, sons, all these things, God, we are meant to glorify you, God. But that comes with being lowly and being humble, God, we are meant to glorify you in all that we do, God. So, Lord, even when that natural pride comes up in us because we're human, God, and it's a human struggle, Lord, help us to seek the word. Help us to seek you, Lord, and find that lowliness and find that humility.
00:06:44.697 --> 00:06:52.233
That only comes from being with you and from walking humbly with you. Lord, I pray for every person who's hearing this prayer right now. Lord.
00:06:52.314 --> 00:06:59.946
Who's maybe struggling with this idea. God. Of just humility overall and a dropped sense of pride. God. Lord, I pray that you give them wisdom, God.
00:07:00.050 --> 00:07:07.490
That you point them to maybe somebody or a Bible verse that can give them a little bit more clarity. God, we pray for all of this. In your name.
00:07:07.521 --> 00:07:09.574
We pray. Amen. Amen.
00:07:11.713 --> 00:07:32.533
