Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of 1 Peter 5:6-7 which says "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care on him; for he cares for you."
"I love this verse because at firsts it asks us to humble ourselves, so that he may exalt us. Meaning we won’t be exalted until we humble ourselves under His hand, meaning we serve rather than request to be served. But then after it says he will exalt us, it says “Casting all your care on him; for he cares for you” meaning, we can’t fully humble ourselves if we haven’t let go of the thing that worries us.
How could we be in a state of humility if we cannot surrender all of us, including the control we have over our worries. We must surrender it all. So go about your day today and look for habits and hobbies that you can surrender. What are the things you haven’t let go of that won’t allow you to humble yourself?
The definition of exalt is to hold (someone or something) in very high regard; think or speak very highly of. Another definition is to raise to a higher rank or a position of greater power. God loves us, that was never in question, but He wants to elevate you.
How can He elevate us if we are constantly stuck in the present or past worrying about things that we cannot control? Humble yourself, server those around you, become the hands and feet of Jesus and He will exalt you in due time."
