You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1179. Today's Devo is called when you take delight. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.023 --> 00:00:29.160
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

00:00:29.320 --> 00:00:51.496
Good morning, everybody. Happy Thursday. Welcome back to another episode of the My morning Devotional Podcast. My name is Allison and I'm so excited to be here with you guys this morning. I've been with you all week. I was with you last week and tomorrow will be my last morning for the next, I don't know, a couple months. I'll probably pop in from time to time. But I just wanted to thank you for listening and for tuning in.

00:00:51.567 --> 00:01:26.260
If you haven't heard from me before, if you're a new listener, thank you for trusting me over the last two weeks. For those that have been with me forever, I hope that it's been a nice reminder of where we started and where we're going to continue to go as a community. And with that, I just wanted to say, you know, or maybe you don't know, but if you've been with me for a long time, you know that the community has gone through seasons. I did written devotionals for a long time. I did a monthly box and then we did a patreon for a little bit. We've always looked for ways to continue to support the community, to continue to support the podcast, because there's a lot of moving pieces.

00:01:26.420 --> 00:02:49.485
And now we've introduced Buy me coffee, which is a great platform just to donate and to continue to support the community, to sew a seed into the community. So that has my stamp of approval, if anybody was wondering. I just wanted to continue to give not just the Alessia sisters, but this community a chance and a way to reach the world. It's always been a global podcast and I just wanted to continue on that trajectory. And of course, content creation comes with a lot of cameras and a lot of different things. So I just, I thank you for committing yourselves to our community. So today we're going to be. In Psalm 37, verse 4 to 5, it says, Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will do this. And I label today's devil when you take delight. Really? Because I wanted to pose the question. We know we should take delight in the Lord. We know that that's what the Bible tells us to do. We know that we should be praising Him. We talked about that earlier this week, but I just wanted us to pose the question, what happens when we do this? What happens when we take delight in the Lord on a daily basis? Well, here it says he will give you the desires of your heart. That's first and foremost. And we all have different desires. We have dreams, we have ambitions, we have vision for our lives.

00:02:49.638 --> 00:04:06.783
And he knows that. He sees your heart, he knows where you're at and he wants to give you the desires of your heart. So that's first and foremost. Then it says, commit your way to the Lord. So that's the second question. What happens when we commit our ways to the Lord day in and day out? That means turning off music when our spirits don't feel good and switching it to a more worship esque environment. The great thing is that I feel like in 2024 so many artists have come out with great music that's not necessarily worship, but it's not secular either. It's really good music. So listen and tune in to people like Forest Frank. That just turns your day around. What happens when we commit our ways to Him? What happens when we look for better TV shows, fruit bearing books that we read? What happens when we look for content creators that fill us with joy instead of jealousy? What happens when we look for different things in our lives that just allow us to stay in a state of pure heartedness? What happens when we commit our ways to reading our Bible every day? What happens when we commit to serving our church on Sundays without asking questions? When we don't feel like it, we still show up and we serve.

00:04:06.921 --> 00:05:49.084
What happens? And the reality is that God can do a lot. It says if you commit your ways to the Lord, trust in him and he will do this. He will give you the desires of your heart. We know that if we follow His Word, we know that when we delight in him, we know that when we commit our ways to him, everything will be added onto our lives. And he wants us to live blessed and holy lives. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to continue to follow our goals and our visions. And this is that time of year when we're thinking about that. What do we want this time next year to look like? And yesterday or the day before we talked about how we don't know how the timeline plays out. But we do have direction. And in order to continue to walk in that direction, we need to 1 take delight in him and 2 commit our ways to him so that he can give us the desires of our hearts. He is a good father. He wants to bless you. You. He wants to bless all of us. He wants to bless me. He wants to bless you. He wants to bless every single person under the sound of my voice. So let us pray. Father God, we thank you that you are a good father. We thank you that we can just know that when we continue to commit our ways to you, when we look for ways to keep our lives pure, when we look for ways to listen to music that glorifies you, to look at TV shows that glorify you, to read books that glorify you, Lord, to be in relationship with people, to honor our relationships, to honor our bodies, to honor the gifts that you've given us. We know that as we continue to live like that, you will continue to give us the desires of our heart. You are a good father and we thank you. We love you. We pray this in your son's mighty name.

00:05:49.172 --> 00:06:11.009
Amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
