Where Are You Walking?

Where Are You Walking?

What does being absorbed by the Word of God mean to you?

In episode 1198, our host, Gaby Alessi, invites us to delve into Psalms 1:1-3. This passage highlights two distinct ways we can choose to walk through life: alongside the wicked or in delight of the Lord's law. Gaby emphasizes the transformative power of meditation on Scripture, guiding us to absorb the Word of God deeply and reflect on its meaning throughout our day.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1198. Today's Devo is called Where Are youe Walking? Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.600 --> 00:01:02.594
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Well, happy Wednesday, everybody. This is Gabby Alessi, your host for the week. It's going to be an amazing day. It's Hump Day, which I don't know where Hump Day comes from. It's a very weird expression or title of the day, but it is Hump Day. It's Wednesday, and usually Wednesdays are full and busy, but they can kind of feel like the lull in the middle of the week. So I pray that today's devo is going to bless you. I pray it's going to encourage you and give you a good midweek. Pick me up. This is Gabby, the host for the week. And yes, if you are listening and you listens to you listen to yesterday's.

00:01:02.722 --> 00:01:13.218
I do tend to go a little bit long. We were just talking about it back here, so I apologize, forgive me, before I even continue this one. Hopefully today we're gonna stay within the five minutes, but we're

00:01:13.233 --> 00:01:16.865
1 through 3.

00:01:16.938 --> 00:01:23.480
And I love this. This is probably one of my favorite verses and chapters in all of the Bible because it says this.

00:01:23.599 --> 00:01:51.349
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked, or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither, whatever they do prospers. So, so my question for you is this. In 2025, where are you walking?

00:01:52.090 --> 00:02:31.253
Where are you walking? You see, in this verse, it talks about, you know, there's almost two ways that you can walk. You can walk in step with the wicked. You can stand in the way that sinners take, or you can sit in the company of mockers, or you can delight in the law of the Lord. You can meditate on his law day and night. And then it shows you the result of that thing. If you even continue, it'll show you the result of the way of the wicked. And it'll show you the way of those that delight in the. In the law of the Lord. But I wanna focus on a word here that I think has been taken by other religions and has kind of been misused and misrepresented.

00:02:31.382 --> 00:02:41.931
And as believers, we don't use it and I think we don't do it enough. Which is the word meditate. It says this. Who meditates on his law day and night?

00:02:42.116 --> 00:02:55.627
Who meditates on his law day and night. You see, to meditate. I found this. It says in the Old Testament, two Hebrew words are translated, meditate.

00:02:55.804 --> 00:03:50.349
One suggests a low pitch muttering sound, so a probably low mumbling noise. And the other means to be taken up or absorbed with something used Together we get the idea of someone pondering a biblical text, quietly vocalizing it repeatedly. What I love here is the idea of meditating is like being absorbed, absorbing the Word of God, reading the word of God and absorbing it, bringing it in. You see, the Word of God should inform us, but it also should transform us. We should read the Word of God not just trying to find information we can share with others. And also we should be sensitive when we read the Word of God and not have like a main character syndrome where we're just looking for us in the text and not looking for God in the text. Because when we look for God, then we're reading scripture that's gonna transform our lives.

00:03:50.469 --> 00:04:52.800
And so when we read a passage of scripture like this, when we read a scripture that says, blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way, but when we delight in the Lord, when we read this, we should absorb this. This should. Should overwhelm us. And we should be thinking about this all day and all night. You know, I love that this show, how we do it is, or this podcast is that we do one to two or three verses a day. It's not whole passages because it enables all of us as listeners and the community to take one verse and meditate on it daily, to meditate on it all day long. On Monday you have a verse, Tuesday, and so on. And so it helps us think about this and be absorbed by this text all day in order to transform our lives. This is what I love. When we meditate on the Word of God, the Bible says we are planted by the streams of water. Streams of water, equal provision and the presence of God. We're filled with the presence of God and provided for.

00:04:53.259 --> 00:05:07.490
We will experience fruit in season which can mean blessings in our life. Our leaf will not wither, which means protection and whatever we do will prosper. That means we have prosperous lives. We will experience prosperity.

00:05:07.910 --> 00:06:15.259
So let's take that word meditation today. Let's take it back to Christianity and let's be absorbed and let's absorb the word of God today. Don't listen to this episode, don't hear this message, don't hear this verse and receive it. Then walk away. And it says in the Bible you look in the mirror and then you walk away and forget what you look like. Let's remember this verse, let's memorize this verse and absorb the word of God today to be transformed by it. Lord, we thank you for today. We pray that we walk in step with you. We pray that we walk and delight in your law and we meditate on your law day and night and we're going to experience your presence, your provision, your blessings, your protection and prosperity in Jesus name. Amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
