Whose Heart Do I Care For?

Whose Heart Do I Care For?

Whose heart do you care for the most in your life? In today's episode of My Morning Devotional, host Richelle Alessi invites us to explore the story of David and Goliath from a fresh perspective. We delve into the heart of David, a young shepherd who cared deeply for those around him, not just in words but in actions. Richelle passionately shares how David's strength and boldness were deeply rooted in his daily responsibilities and faith in God, demonstrating how small, faithful acts can prepare us for life's bigger battles. Despite facing the giant, David's true motivation was to protect the hearts of those around him, fueled by his unwavering belief in God.

Join Richelle and the Alessi family in this empowering devotional as they pray for boldness and faith to overcome giants in our lives, tearing down walls of fear, and uniting in prayer and devotion.

You're listening to my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1237. Today's Devo is called Whose Heart Do I Care For? Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everybody and happy Tuesday. Welcome to another day of my Morning Devo. My name is Rachelle Alessi and I am going to be your host this week. So thank you for joining us. It's going to be a great week. And like yesterday I mentioned we're actually reading for 1st Samuel 17, and we're really just going to read different verses of that specific chapter as it is the story of David, the grand story of David and Goliath. And so I'm excited to do it. It's one of my favorite stories, but I really got to read it again and just it was like I had read it for the first time. And yesterday we talked about how David took care of his responsibilities and how he would do what his father had asked and he would handle his sheep. He took care of his sheep. And he did not think that was a small job. Even though he had been big dreams and big things, and even though he had gotten anointed king, he knew that his job at the moment was to tend his sheep and to feed the sheep, and he took care of those sheep. And I believe that the small task that he had was this training ground for what God had for him. And so we talked about just taking care of the little things that we have and not seeing them as small. And that builds on today because now we're moving to the part where we read David was going back and forth, taking food to his brothers and tending his sheep. And now it's another day where David gets there, but his brothers were actually in the front lines of the battlefield. And David gets there, and David starts to hear for the first time what Goliath had been saying to the army of God. And I love that this young kid said, I'm just taking food to my brothers and he happens to be there. And when he arrives here is Goliath saying all these things about David's God and how it's not a real one. And David was just this little teenager who was like, this is not right. And he starts to Actually argue with his brothers. Because he's like, guys, do you not recognize that with this giant is saying it's not true? And I love that he knew there was a giant out there saying things that were not true. He was not faced by Goliath's size or even his words. He was just like, what he's saying is not true. And basically David causes a scene.

00:02:56.984 --> 00:03:04.247
So it starts with his brothers, and his brothers actually are like, david, you don't know what you're talking about. And David is like, I do know.

00:03:04.304 --> 00:03:15.497
And so he can. He just continues to talk to the point where it gets to the king and the king says to bring him over. And I love David's words. And this is

00:03:15.554 --> 00:03:19.385
15. I'm sorry,

00:03:19.497 --> 00:03:52.611
32. And what David said to Saul was, let no man's heart fail because of him. Your servant will go and fight with the Philistine. And I love that David's heart was that he did not want the hearts of all those army of the entire army of God to fail because of fear, because he knew that what the giant was saying was not true. If we realize here, the motivation for David to fight was not because he wanted to be a hero.

00:03:52.675 --> 00:05:16.889
Even though we read it as David is the hero, that was not his motivation. His motivation was that he did not want the lies of the giants getting through the hearts of the people of God because he knew that was not his God. And he was just frustrated because he's like, I know my God. I know who God is. And I know that this army is the army of God. And so if we are the army of God, why are we going to let fear keep us from fighting and winning? We know that we are the army of God. We get to fight and we get to win. And this was truly vision that the Lord had given David. But guys, David had this vision because he took care of the sheep, because he did the little things. David did not get this grand vision because he was just somebody special. The truth is, David did his responsibilities and he took everything that God had given him seriously. So. So when it came to time to fight the big giant, for him, a big giant saying lies was just absurd, absurd. He was like, this is not even like reality, guys, come on. And he cared that the army of God and all those men, he cares so deeply. He literally says, do not let man's heart fail because of him.

00:05:17.189 --> 00:06:02.100
And so he said, I will go fight this giant because I know my God. And so I love this and we'll continue to talk about it tomorrow. But I just encourage you today to have the boldness that David had. The truth is he cared for the heart of the men because he knew who his God was and he did not want the heart of men fail because of lies of a giant that he knew he could defeat. So let's pray. Father God, I just want to thank you for your word and for your truth. And I just pray that your truth and what your word says, Father, starts to resonate in our hearts so strong that you start to tear down all the lies that have created fear in us, Lord.

00:06:02.259 --> 00:06:05.827
Because your word says that the truth of God will set us free.

00:06:05.963 --> 00:06:31.930
And so my prayer today, Father, is that your truth, Father, starts to set free the hearts of your listeners today. And that you stare, you start to tear down the wall of fear because your word is strong and is courageous. And it goes before us, Father, so be with us today. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
