You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1069. Today's Evo is called why wonder? Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.
00:00:15.109 --> 00:00:30.071
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast.
00:00:30.216 --> 00:00:59.979
Good morning everybody, and happy Thursday. I am so happy that I get to share the DeVos this week, and I hope that they have been blessing you. If you have any responses or comments, we love to hear from you. Please feel free to text or text line or instagram. We're always looking forward to hearing from you, so let's get right into it. Today we have psalm 100 1910, and it says, with my whole heart, I seek you. Let me now wander from your commandments.
00:01:00.600 --> 00:01:14.951
I love this verse because it says, let me not wonder and how many times in our life how we felt like we're just wandering around. We really do not know what to do next.
00:01:15.135 --> 00:01:41.010
Or honestly, in this case, is from your commandments, meaning all the righteous things, the things that God has set for us to do. And somehow we still find ourselves wondering on what should we do when the Lord has given us his commandments and his right directions on how to do life right, a life that is blessed, a life that we get to enjoy.
00:01:41.349 --> 00:02:29.419
And we still wonder. And it reminds me of the Israelites when they had left slavery and they were going into the promised land and God had given them directions and commandments on how to do things, and they still found themselves wondering for another 40 years that still. I feel like something that us humans do, no matter the time, is that God has laid out ways for us to do life, for us to be blessed, and we still find ourselves wandering for so long on how we should do things. I think this convicted me in saying it's because I am not seeking the Lord with my whole heart. I am seeking godly things. I'm seeking things that are good and they're godly, but not God himself.
00:02:29.840 --> 00:02:55.116
Because sometimes we get confused with God and godly things and we think that they're the same thing. But God is a person himself. It's like your friend or your husband. It's its own person. It's not things. Your husband and your friends, they're not collection of their shoes and their clothes and their cars. No, they're a person standalone from all the good things that they bring.
00:02:55.307 --> 00:04:15.800
In the same way, God is his own person and we need to seek him as his own person, not the things that he brings. Because when we're just trying to seek on how to get things, the good things that he brings, we'll find ourselves wandering because we don't get to know the person, the person who brings all those things. So then we find ourselves not getting those things, but also not knowing the provider of those things. And so we should say we do want godly things, we should expect good things from God. But above all of that, we want the Lord. We want to get to know God himself. And we need to do with our whole hearts. With my whole heart I seek you. And that way the Lord will not let us wonder from the things that we need to be doing or ourselves, we'll not just be wondering what's our next. Because in God we're confident we know him, we seek him, so we're not wondering what's next. We might be expecting the next, but we're not just wandering because we know him and we spend time with him. And because of that he's speaking to us. So we know we just have to trust him and be confident in that. So let's pray today. Dear Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for another great day of life. Lord, we say today we're not going to wonder anymore.
00:04:16.100 --> 00:04:19.732
We're just going to seek you with our entire heart.
00:04:19.915 --> 00:05:21.810
We are going to not just want the things that you provide, but we want you. We want to get to know you more. So, Lord, show us different parts of you. Father, help us want to seek you more. Give us the desire, Father, to want to open your word more, to want to talk to you more. And father, right now, I just pray that you will speak to every person listening in any little small matter. Father, speak to us today because we want to hear you. We don't want to hear the next podcast, we don't want to hear the next instagram reel. We don't even want to hear the next person. We want to hear from you. In Jesus name we pray to. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
